I have 1 club spined and I am getting my graphite drivers spined. Lots of opinions and info out there.įrom what I have gleaned from my convos with the fitter here locally, i interpreted his suggestions to me as.not to spine the MX200 as they are GI already but to spine the MP52. (yeah Im not sure I have that one 100% spot on - someone whos more experienced might be able to better assist) This weld, when placed appropriatly in relation to the clubhead, can benefit the impact and contact by reducing the whip or droop in shaft. All shafts have 'spines' (weld in steel?). I am in discussion with a fitter who thinks it helps alot.ĥ. Clubfitters are for the majority - for it. Most, if not all, OEM, dont do it - they dont see its benefits.ģ. You are either for it or against it - there doesnt seem to be middle ground.Ģ. Please help me understand the benefits and WHY it helps. I don't know anything about this spine alignment. I just said, if i hit the damn thing better i could care less.

I spent some additional time with the fitter and he strongly recommends getting the driver pured/flo'ed/spined (whatever it is) and he even went as far as to caution me that the lettering will more than likely be in an odd location in relation to the head - wondering if that would be visually weird for me. Dont folks who advocate for this process usually point to the shaft lettering initially, stating how off it is when the lettering matches up with the clubhead? if you pure a shaft, what are the odds that the letters are perfectly aligned? I am ignorant on this matter, so I digress here to the experts.In my very limited knowledge and understanding of this - I would be more than a little concerned with the outcome on your club. The shaft doesn't work for me, and I am returning it, for another one, but, wtf?. Granted, they sent the shaft to their other shop, but if you are turning the shaft around to find perfect puring, shouldn't the letters of the Aldila shaft not be in perfect alignment with the club head? I would think the lettering should not be lined up if the driver shaft is pured/aligned or whatever the hell you call it, right?
